In this year’s New Year message, PM Lee Hsien Loong wore a red shirt with a Chinese/Mandarin collar.

You can listen to PM Lee’s message below.

Why a mandarin collar? Did his staffers give him a wrong memo, thinking that this video was for Chinese New Year instead?

Heh, unlikely.

PM Lee might not have spoken much about the Terrex incident, but he sure is sending out a soft message to China. Subtle diplomacy.

After all, according to Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, it is more effective to get our Terrex vehicles back in a quiet manner and staying out of the limelight.

We hope China gets our message. Singapore is a friend, and we just you to #returnourterrex so that we can move on.

That is all.

The end.
