Here is my face after reading the news today…

Basically, Netflix has decided to block subscribers from using proxies and other bypasses from accessing content that is not available in the subscriber’s country. So, if you’ve been using a US VPN to watch House of Cards or your other favourite shows on Netflix, you are going to be seriously disappointed.

A Netflix spokesperson told Reuters that the aim was to provide a service that is similar around the world and using VPNs or proxies “to virtually cross borders violates Netflix’s terms of use because of licensing restrictions on TV shows and movies”.

This really shows the problem with copyright and licensing. Even when people are willing to pay for content, companies will still block these off. So perhaps it is unsurprising that people resort to climbing Bukit Timah…

Well… I hope someone finds a way around this.
